RARE SCHNEIDER XENAR 50M 3.5 LENS LEICA SCREW MOUNT

Extremely rare schnieder Xenar 50mm F3.5 lens with Leica screw mount, rangefinder coupled.   Very clean coated lens element, this is Tessar design, extremely sharp.  This was originally supplied in late 40s and early 50s to post war Italian rangefinder leica style camera, such as Gamma, Sonne, etc.  It can be used with Leica screw mount or any Leica copy, such as Nicca, Leotax, etc, or also with new Bessa screw mount cameras.  Heavy chromed body, rectractable, and the body design is recti-linear (meaning the lens does not move around when focusing like elmar, but is constructed like summicron) I have seen couple of Xenogon 35mm, Xenon 2.0,or Xenar 2.8 50mm, but rarely Xenar 50mm 3.5 in Leica screw mount.  It is highly usable lens as well as collectable.

One knowledgeable ebayer informed me about lens coupling with Leica and Leica copies (please see the question and answer) , as outer screw is longer than usual Leica or copy lenses.   However, this has been professionally cut out by reputable repair shop to accommodate the traditional Leica screwmount rangefinder coupling device, so it will couple, and infinity is also checked.   It is also noted that Xenar is based on Zeiss Tessar with aperture blade is at the rear of second element, as opposed to Elmar which is after the first element.  Also the red triangle means it is coated.  The color rendition is more Zeiss and warmer than Leica of this era which is more cooler.  But I think all the old lens collector knows Tessar or Zeiss/Leica characteristics.
