INTRODUCTION TO THIS GUIDE.....REALLY REALLY RARE.....hasent been tested....dont have 8 inch disk drive!
This guide is an operator's handbook for the COBOL Inventory System. It answers questions on how to use the system. Read the entire manual before starting any processing.
Section 1 provides the necessary background for an operator to understand the Inventory System. This section includes a glossary of terms and symbols the operator will see in this guide. Section 1 also contains a section on using the computer. In addition, it provides the operator with instructions on using the password protection feature of the system and on installing the Inventory System in your business. If you are using the Inventory System for the f"IrSt time, it is essential that you read all of the information eontained in Seetion 1. Section 2 of this guide leads you through the tasks to be performed in producing each of the Inventory reports.
Section 3 leads you through tasks which add or change information stored in the Inventory System files. These tasks include adding or changing stock items, prices, or quantities.
Section 4 is a collection of all the reports which can be printed by the Inventory System. Thes reports can be used for yo reference. Seetion 5 provides a summary of the accounting principles used in the system. It is a reference section to help you understand how each of the tasks relates to the accounting function it performs.
Section 6 is a data security section. In this section, instructions are provided for starting password checking. This section may be removed from this guide if password protection has already been started. There are other types of documents which provide reference information on the Inventory System. For more information on actual accounting principles, we suggest that you consult an introductory text such as:
Davidson, Schindler, Stickney, Weil. Financial Accounting--An Introduction to Concepts, Methods, and Uses. Hinsdale, Illinois: Dryden Press, 1976. For technical reference information, such as how files are defined when the system is installed, the Software Reference Manual can be consulted. The Software Reference Manual is used primarily by programmers and analysts. .,.
