In the photo's above you will view the most monumental, breathtaking, HUGE!!!, victorian 7 drawer high chest that is so rare and made locally here in Ohio. In a lifetime of dealing with antique furniture I have never seen nor have I owned this particular unusual wooden rod, locking drawer, high chest or dresser. I would tend to say there was only a handful of these made. My thoughts are it may have even been special ordered. Every drawer is ink stamped George P. Mull, Zainesville, Ohio. We here have never had any of the Mull Furniture Co. items in the past. This is a first! Our thoughts are this fine furniture maker was not in operation very long. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AND SHOULD HAVE MADE MUCH MORE FURNITURE!!!! This is right up there with the quality of pieces by Mitchell Rammelsburg of Cincinnati of Ohio and John Henry Belter. YOU JUST NEED TO CHECK OUT THE UNUSUAL SLIDING ROD IN THE BACK OF THIS. IT'S GREAT!!!! How this works is the top drawer is the ONLY drawer that has the original lock and never have the remaining 6 drawers had a lock. The top drawer pushes in and there is a steel rod that pushes up in the back when the drawer is pushed in and lifts to lock the rest of the drawers. Again, the remaining 6 drawers never had a lock so this was a FABULOUS IDEA for the 1870-80's time period. All the drawers are dovetailed, this piece has the original finish. The ring pulls of course look to be replaced. There was an old knob in the dresser and it is identical to all 14 ring pulls that are on the drawer fronts today. We will send the old one with it. Take notice that the brass covers in the center are original. THIS IS HUGE!!! IT EVEN HAS THE ORIGINAL DOUBLE WIDE CASTERS AT EACH CORNER, SEE PHOTO ABOVE. WOW, this is 58 inches tall and again WOW 47 inches wide x 26 inches front to back. All drawers are 40 1/2 wide x 19 1/2 inches front to back and graduated depths of 4, 4 1/2, 5, 5 1/2, 7, 7 1/2 and 7 3/4 deep. Take notice that all 7 drawers again are graduated with depths that are not the same. Here again, we are only about 45 minutes from Zainesville and have never seen nor owned this particular cabinet makers furniture. We believe this to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a rare piece of Americana furniture. AGAIN, IT'S GREAT!!!!!!!!
