RARE Vintage 1976 Lawsuit Japan Grabber Bass Guitar

So rare there is no info on Google! I suspect it is a Mann, Ibanez or possibly Aria. When I got this it was purchased as a Gibson. It had a Gibson neck plate (now in my other auctions) and the head was painted black. I was going to buy a Gibson waterslide logo and restore it. Then I noticed there was no serial # pressed into the back of the headstock. So I took the bass apart. That when I noticed a different set of neck screw holes and Made in Japan on the base of the bridge. When I stripped the black off the headstock I found someone has sanded the logo off. So rather than proceed with getting the Gibson logo put on, I decided to research how many lawsuit Grabbers were made and who made them. No info. but there was a wave where Ibanez and their offshoot cohorts cloned virtually every Gibson, even if they didn't market them. They just wanted to prove they could build as good (or better) than the US makers. Gibson got the message loud and clear and passed their concern on to their lawyers. So I have determined the value and interest is far greater to the collector as a lawsuit copy than if it was an actual Gibson. Sandwiched maple body, sliding pickup. Everything is the same. Long scale, frets good , playability and tone is excellent. So there you go. A suprise and a desirable addition to the serios collectors hoard.
