  • Function Keys - Available after you've programmed your remote to control other equipment. If you have a DVR, you can pause live TV.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

Problem
Your remote control operates your DIRECTV® Receiver, but nothing else (such as your TV, VCR or DVD player).

Possible causes

  • Your remote control isn’t set to the correct mode — TV, VCR, DVD, etc.
  • Your remote control is not programmed to control the other devices.
  • Your remote control needs to be reprogrammed.

Solutions

  • If you have a DIRECTV white remote, press "menu" then "settings," "setup," "remote" and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • If using a gray or black remote, first press the button that corresponds to the device you are trying to operate - your TV, VCR, DVD player, etc.
  • For further instructions, refer to the systems manuals below for your specific remote. If you can’t find your exact model on our list, choose a similar model in the same brand.
  • Look up the control codes for your DIRECTV remote control here.

Hint
Once your remote is programmed, write down the code(s) and directions you followed. This way, if your remote ever needs to be reprogrammed again, you’ll know how to do it.
