This auction is for one 77D microphone in good condition
This mic was checked over by the mic tech at AEA ribbon mics (Wes Dooley's shop). He said the ribbon was fine, all it needed was a new cable which was installed. When listening to the mic on headphones, he scrunched up his face. I thought something was wrong... but then he said, "Damn. This is one of the better ones I've heard. Better than my pair of 77DX".
The 77D has traditionally had a 2-3 Db lower output than a DX, but other than that they are very very similar and this is such a good example that it really shouldn't matter. Cosmetically, it has some wear on the chrome underside of the mic (which you can see some of in pic#2), a serial number etched in the yoke, and some small chips visable in the paint. No dents to the body, barely any bending in the grill, and very nice silk. It has the original ribbon and does *not* need to be re-ribboned. Very balanced presentation (highs and lows) and lots of detail.
