Offered in this auction is a BEAUTIFUL RED SCAREY ANN FOLK ART HAND PAINTED WOODEN MECHANICAL BLACK AMERICANA DOLL. Pressing the metal lever on the back of the doll causes the hair to move in and out. Doll Condition: NEAR MINT (see photos) LEVER WORKS. Measures about 5 1/4" tall without the hair. This extremely RARE mechanical doll was manufactured by the POPPY DOLL COMPANY of Atascadero, California in the 1920's before going out of business during the great depression. It's part of a collection we were fortunate enough to accquire from a collector who spent about 20+ years assembling an OUTSTANDING assortment of Scary Ann dolls. He told us during that time he scoured 100's of toy shows, flea markets, rummage & estate sales every year to put this collection together. These dolls are so hard to find, he usually only averaged 2-3 pieces a year. We are currently selling this FANTASTIC collection, so be sure to see our other auctions for more of these elusive dolls.
