Doug Griffin's professional baseball career comprised 13 years, beginning at Idaho Falls in 1965 and finishing with the Boston Red Sox in 1977. He spent eight seasons in the major leagues, seven of them with the Red Sox, and appeared briefly in the 1975 World Series.

"Dude" and "Griff" were nicknames given Griffin by his Red Sox team-mates, though Luis Tiant called him "skeleton" because he was so thin and lightweight. What he lacked in size, though, Griffin made up for in agility, quickness, andspeed, and he had a sure glove

 My dad was a pro sports photographer who had accumulated nearly 30 career awards for his sports pictures before retiring with great honors.
