Thurman Munson was a member of the New York Yankees for 11 years and has been called one of the greatest catchers of the 1970s
His baseball career was cut tragically short when he died in an airplane accident while practicing landing.

CECIL COOPER 
Some adjustments to his batting stance helped Cecil Cooper transform himself into one of the better hitters in the American League in the mid-1970s and early 1980s. After he adopted a style similar to that of Rod Carew, Cooper strung together seven straight .300 seasons.


My dad was a pro sports photographer who had accumulated nearly 30 career awards for his sports pictures before retiring in 1976 with great honors.

Dad would sometimes make one or two more larger prints as contest entries (he won nearly 30 career awards for this sports photos before retiring in the mid-1970s to great local fan-fare and media attention).
