Beware!  Some people have discovered that they can take the upper unit off and replace it with an upper unit from a machine that instead has some other problem elsewhere.  That machine might print for a while, but it's going to collapse on you, so to speak.  That's because each lower unit and each upper unit is thermally calibrated to each other.  Hey, it's a very sensitive thermal transfer printer, not a toy.  But we have the equipment and expertise to calibrate each unit before it leaves our shop.  Don't accept a repair that might include an upper unit replacement unless it has been recalibrated.
