ROBERT CRUMB - ARCADE COVER (1964) ORIGINAL ART

ROBERT CRUMB (b 1943) was the founder of the underground comics movement, and by far its most famous practitioner. His best-known creations include Mr. Natural, Fritz the Cat, and the "Keep on Truckin'" cartoon, all counterculture icons of the '60s. Crumb's artwork is among the most distinctive -- and highly valued -- ever created for comics. He currently resides in France and continues to draw.

This original art is the cover image for Arcade, dated June 1964. Arcade was a series of sketchbooks (which often included journal entries and stories as well as artwork) that Crumb would create for his own amusement and practice. This is an example of Crumb's more bizarre characters. The artwork measures 8.25" x 11" and has been tastefully matted and framed.
