ROBERT FARRINGTON (LISTED ARTIST).  CALLE BERNAL GUANAJUATO, MEXICO, 24" x 20" oil (and palette knife) on board  (framed size: 32" x 28") signed lower right: Farrington.  Mat has stains; painting has some light craquelure in the sky and a very light faint scratch in the right sky.

This biography from the Archives of AskART as submitted by Cynthia Nicholson:


"Robert Farrington attended the Corcoran School of Art during the 40's and later traveled to Europe and the Far East.  On return from Europe he lived awhile and painted in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico.

A decade ago Mr. Farrington moved to Venice, California and while living here has painted most of the street corners and inhabitants of this seaside community.  He also paints yearly in Mexico and San Francisco.

His paintings can be seen in galleries in Venice, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, as well as in his home studio on the Marina Peninsula.

"Robert Farrington has been painting since attending the Corcoran School of Fine Art in Washington, D.C. in 1946.  He has also travelled and studied both in Europe and the Far East.  Farrington is interested in depicting the character of actual places, and paints the local scenes in Venice, Topanga Canyon and on the Marina Peninsula.  He uses both brush and pallet knife to give texture and depth to his paintings."
