The nature of the photographic image and the role of the individual within a media-saturated society are the subjects of this landmark exhibition catalogue. Through these images, the complex role of artists as both creators and critics of culture is explored. Includes works by 15 artists spanning four decades--Nan Goldin's diaristic portraits, Warhol's disaster series, Baldessari's photoemulsion paintings, and many more.

This is an exhibition catalogue from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art that examines the complex relationship of artists to technologically produced images. It contains the work of 15 artist over four decades, including Frank.,Warhol, Richter,  Baldessari, Clark, Wall, Goldin and others, with 86 color and 49 duotone reproductions.

A good to very good softcover book. An ex-library copy with a number of library stampings and stickers, no card pocket. Minor wear to cover and corners and edges. Tight binding. Bump to top spine corner with minor effect to that corner of pages, else pages are bright, clean and unmarked. Overall interior excellent with little or no reader handling wear. A very decent reading and reference copy of an important title.
