ROLEX VINTAGE SUBMARINER 6538 TROPICAL BIG CROWN

This is a dynamite vintage Rolex Submariner. Everybody wants the "Big Crown" and this one is a special one. The "tropical" dial is spectacular!

Original case is stainless steel with dimensions of 38mm diameter by 14.5mm thick. The lugs are fat and even. The original Brevet screw down crown operates smoothly. The bezel structure and insert are both original. Note the faded red triangle around the bezel pearl. The bezel still turns smoothly but with the appropriate amount of resistance. Crystal is domed acrylic and clean.

Serial number 420XXX dates production to 1958. Inside case back is marked '6538' and has IV.1958 as its date code.

Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1030 with 25 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. The movement is operating well and is extremely clean.

Original gilt rail track dial is now brown (but was originally black) and looks just beautiful. There are still just a couple of spots on the dial with the original black paint intact. Look at the high resolution pictures of this watch below and feast your eyes on this magnificent original dial.

Bracelet is Rolex stretch Oyster with 1959 date code with 11 links. Bracelet is in mint+ condition with zero stretch.

This is a wonderful original Big Crown Submariner and will be a prized addition to whose ever collection it enters.
