  Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius)
Mammoth is any of a number of an extinct genus of elephant, often with long curved tusks and, in northern species, a covering of long hair. They lived during the Pleistocene epoch from 1.6 million years ago to around 3,500 years ago. The word mammoth comes from the Russian.

Mammoth remains have been found in Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. They are believed to have originally evolved in North Africa about 4.8 million years ago, where bones of Mammuthus africanavus have been found in Chad, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia. Despite their African ancestry, they are in fact more closely related to the modern Asian Elephant than either of the two African elephants. The common ancestor of both mammoths and Asian elephants split from the line of African elephants about 6 - 7.3 million years ago. The Asian elephants and mammoths diverged about half a million years later (5.5 - 6.3 million years ago.

Wooly Mammoth was a cold climate dweller equipped with a thick layer of fat for insulation, and an exterior of long black hair. The Wooly Mammoth was smaller than most mammoths, and had a hump of fat behind its domed head. It fed on low tundra vegetation in which it scraped away snow and ice from with its tusks. Several well preserved remains have been found in Siberia and Alaska and cave paintings in Spain and France show depictions of the Wooly Mammoth as seen by early humans....

IMPORTANT! Mammoth Tusks are legal for export and import in most countries, because they come from the extinct animal - Woolly Mammoth.

There are two masses were found in 1967, total 323 kg. It was determined as coarse octahedrite, bandwidth 2.0 mm(iron llE).

Two years ago (2004) there was new expeditions on Seymchan meteorite strewnfield (?). During the expedition there were several finds of different sizes meteorite individuals. Recent finds shows that this meteorite is close to Glorietta Mountain and contains NUMEROUS OLIVINE GRAINS!!!! SEVERAL SMALL INDIVIDUALS FOUND ON SPRING TERRACE. It was a big surprise after cutting the individuals that they contain olivine grains and shows a nice
structure. Meteorite is absolutely stable, no any rust going on it after cutting. The pictures shows metal structure, olivine grains forms. It is interesting that some individuals contain olivine and other not contain it. Some individuals has surface with fusion crust like Sikhote-Alin, some looks like atax

In large slices structure shows  inhomogenous mixing of silicate and iron and looks like mixed mesosiderite and pallasite. There was one small oriented individual. Right now Seymchan (or maybe new) meteorite is under researching.
In last (2005 and 2006) years there was discovered huge masses of meteorite Seymchan, but mostly they are siderites, olivine free. Right now large amount of this really unusual and beautiful pallasite everyone can purchase on eBay from many of meteorite dealers. ite Chinge, and some looks like Sikhote shrapnel.
