Here is for sale very fine 19TH century Continental SOLID STERLING SILVER plaque - icon. I purchased this plaque in Russia 14 years ago. Such was the size of decoration of plaques like this LOKHAN (in Russian) used as decorative panels and hung on walls in the wealthy Noble apartments during Imperial Russia times. Made very much in Augsburg style. (Augsburg - one of the principal sources of fine metalwork in 17th century Europe). The center of this plaque contains an ornately chased and engraved "THE LAST SUPPER" composition. Depicting Christ and The Twelve Apostles after famous Leonardo painting in Milan. Composition set in a wide baroque scroll work border with cartouche / shield at the top. This is incredible plaque. First time in my life I came across to such size and quality of craftsmanship. Marked with 2 marks. I think they are French. One is silver standard mark - "EAGLE IN PROFILE" and "916" - purity of silver,  second mark is the maker but it is very hard to read (see image). Condition is excellent, no damage no repairs. Size: 31" or 79 cm long x 24" or 61 cm high and 2 1/2" or 6.5 cm deep. The weight is around 3.2 kilograms or 103.2 Troy oz. of sterling silver on my postal scale. AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEE OR MONEY BACK!!! No reserve. Good luck! View my other icons.
