True bypass clean for Natural Tone

12AX7 equipped tube distortion
Clean, rhythm and lead in one pedal
Insert loop on lead channel for effects
n for natual tone
Huge chunky rhythm settings with scooped mids

This two channel tube distortion pedal combines the natural warmth and harmonic generation of a 12AX7 tube with the control and saturation of our unique multi-stage solid-state drive circuit. This combination provides incredible gain with tons of overtones and, when combined with our unique passive-interactive EQ, produces four generations of Marshall Plexi tones worthy of a Shakespearian Ode.

Designed to enhance on-stage functionality, the Plexitube™ features two distinct distortion channels for on-the-fly transition between rhythm and lead settings. Channel-1 has been optimized for rhythm with chunk rhythm tones and scooped out mids for a thunderous wall-of-sound and complete world domination. Channel-2 is optimized to produce razor-sharp cut for solos and sustaining mids that are so smooth, they can make a grown man cry. This is augmented with an effects loop that can automatically turn your delay on for leads. No tap dancing!

When the Plexitube is off, true-bypass connectivity ensures the natural tone of your guitar goes directly to your amp without obstruction or a tone robbing load.

The Radial Tonebone Plexitube takes metal guitar one step beyond anything you have experienced so far. God save the Queen.!

Plexitube Audio Path

Following the block diagram from left to right, the Plexitube begins at the input jack and the signal immediately enters the DRIVE circuit. This control sets the overall amount of distortion in the Plexitube. Next in line is the 3 position mid boost control. This is designed to increase the mid range or body of the signal to fatten up the sound. It can also be used to add sustain for soloing.

The path then goes into the two channels with channel-1 assigned for ‘rhythm’ and channel-2 for lead. Note that both channels can be used for either rhythm or lead or for booth and have merely been designated to improve comprehension.

The Plexitube is equipped with a ‘tweaker’ control that lest you fine tune the amount of distortion going to the channel-2 lead channel. It is best that you start by using the Plexitube and get use to it before messing around with this control. It is factory set at 12 o’clock. Increasing the drive will of course increase the distortion on the lead channel for added sustain.

You will note that both channels have their own 3 position voicing switch and contour control. On the rhythm channel-1, the voicing switch has 3 positions with a deep V scoop tone for those huge metal tones where the mid range is scooped out, a moderate V scoop tone that adds a bit more mid range, and a FAT position that boosts the mids for in-your-face cut. The contour control is used to find the sweet spot or center frequency that will best match your amp and guitar to find the tone you are looking for. The lead channel-2 is set slightly differently whereby the 3 position switch goes from bypass, to standard scoop or fat.

The voicing and contour controls are directly linked to the EQ section. The EQ controls affect both channels and when you turn these controls, you will find that the results are very noticeable. The bass and treble controls are extremely powerful opening the door to a wide tonal landscape.

The last part of the EQ section is the TOP END 3-position switch. This is used to set the overall character of the Plexitube to match the type of amp that you have. For instance, if you have an overly bright amp, you may wish to set the TOP END switch to DARK. If on the other hand you really want a ton of harmonics added, you could set this switch to BRIGHT.

Finally, there are two output LEVEL controls, one for each channel. This lets you set the output level for clean, rhythm and lead operation. Depressing the toggle footswitch selects which channel will be activated and the corresponding LED indicator will illuminate.

To add versatility, channel-2 is equipped with a TRS insert jack that works just like the ones found on a professional mixing console. This lets you introduce effects pedals lime a delay or flanger into the lead signal path. When the lead channel is selected, the effects will also go on meaning that you can transition from a dry rhythm to a lead tone with delay and do it with a single foot stomp!

For complete details, please feel free to download the Plexitube PDF manual.

Effects Insert Loop

One of the really cool features on the Plexitube is the insert jack. This lets you insert effects into the solo channel so that when you go from clean to solo or rhythm to solo you can have an effect, such as a delay that turns on automatically as part of the solo tone. Best of all, when you are not in solo mode, you can turn effects on or off to prepare your solo tone for a certain passage and with a single foot stomp, kick in the effect!

Insert Cable - You'll need one of these for the effects loop.
