Train Photos, Book Plates, or Railroad Promotional Images c.1940 These beautiful images depict a stunning chronology of American History as seen through Trains and the Railway system. These photo-book plates tell a story using very clear and simple images of The Life and Times of Our Country as it grew with the help of railroads. Scenes of Americans enjoying luxurious dining, Young Servicemen shipping out, and US Industry being supplied with necessary materials and the many men and woman who helped to make train travel all possible. The series Starts with the "Iron Horse" and a race with a "Colt", to the Massive Diesel-Trains' ability to "Carry Anything, Anywhere, at Anytime"! Here is a lot of 48 images on simi-glossy paper of what appears to be Black & White Photos re-printed on Book Plates which were unpublished. (there is no sign of being cut or taken from a published edition) Each Image is approx. 8 1/2" x 11", numbered and Titled. These Plates are sequential from page 1 to page 56. Missing or never included are pages: p.16; p.41; p. 44,45,46; p.49,50. Terrific Pictorial of American Life as seen from the Railroads at the turn of the last Century until WWll. The condition of each picture/plate is very-good to fine, no foxing, water damage, tears or creases. |
