Awesome book from 1955. This is the Centennial of Rangeley Maine. This very well known and popular tourist destination is close to the hearts of people from not only new England, but from far and wide. The book has photos, information and advertising from the area. Also includes information on all Hotels, Camps, Motels, Tourist Homes, early settlers, prominent Rangeley citizens, including photos, Churches, Civic organizations, Businesses including very uncommon photos of early Companies that are long gone. Almost every photo is a rare image! Articles or information on; the Rangeley Hotel, the 1936 flood, Upper Dam House, The Narrow Guage 'Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad' Gas Buggy, Mooselookmeguntic House (in Oquossoc), the new Steamer 'Rangeley' in approx 1930 at Pickford's Dock (including Harry Quimby), Sam-O-Set Camps (still going strong), Railway Express Agency for the Rangeley Lakes Region, S A Collins & Son Building Supplies, Stuby's Market, Mountain View Hotel, Riddle's Pharmacy, Rangeley Water Company, The Rangeley Inn, Noyes Real Estate Company, York's Log Village on Loon Lake, Height of Land in Oquossoc, Herby Welch (including a photo with W Henry True, H A Furbish Real Eatate, the Oakes family, with a photo of Mrs Cora Oakes who was Rangeley's oldest resident at that time, The Hoar Family (Rangeley's first settlers) including a photo of Lucinda Hoar Tibbets (the first white child born in Rangeley) and a WHOLE lot more. A Very hard to find book, especially in this condition. Available elsewhere for upwards of $150. The cover is padded, leather type material, with the gold colored Rangeley centennial seal. The book is in excellent condition. There is very minimal wear, a little dent in the cover here and there but these are disappearing, pages are in excellent condition, no tears creases or writing. This is a personally owned book, not an ex-library book and has therefore been well cared for. Measures 11 1/4 x 8 3/4 x 3/4 inch thick (2/3 of this is the cover) There are a little over 100 unnumbered pages. Very interesting book, anyone with any knowledge, old or new of this region would love it.
Shipping is figured on an individual basis. We prefer to ship via priority USPS as the online shipping service automatically generates and emails the buyer a tracking number. Please remember that these emails may go into a junk folder if the filter on your email service is not set correctly. We usually offer alternatives to priority mail, so that if you are in no rush for your item, you can choose to use a different service that may be cheaper. Small items will have the First Class mail option. If the weight of the packaged item goes over 13oz then First Class is not an option. Depending on the weight, a flat rate box may be used to save you money. We charge a small materials / handling fee of $1 which is figured into the shipping cost.
We describe everything as accurately as possible. We buy estates and most of the items we sell are previously owned and are therefore sold on an as-is basis. You should expect some signs of wear, unless otherwise stated. We strive to provide you with lots of photographs so that you can see the item up close and personal. If there is anything that is missed, either in the description or in the photos please email, we are always happy to try and help with any questions or requests. Please realize that we are only human and that sometimes errors occur. If you receive your item and are unhappy in any way, please contact us, communication is the key to a happy ending!
We ask that you leave a feedback when your item arrives. Once we know you have received it and are happy, we will leave a positive feedback for our buyer. There is now a 5 star ratings service on ebay. Please be objective and honest when filling this in. If the shipping cost was high on your item, that's because the service to get it to you is expensive, and this is NOT the fault of the seller! We do NOT profit from shipping costs. Thank you
Finally, when you have read and agreed to abide by the rules of the sale, feel free to bid. Remember that auctions end throughout the day and if you are not able to be present when the item finishes, you need to bid to win! This means that you should bid as high as you are willing to pay for the item you are looking at. If someone else bids before the end of the auction and you have only placed a minimum bid, you will miss out on it, so go as high as you are able, and good luck!
