A Rare 1822 Book from Germany

This rare little book is an instruction book to teach reading and religious lessons to children.

This children's book includes reading lessons, mathematics lessons, prayers, verses from the Bible and Christian religion readings.

The book was published in Worms, Deutschland, a city in the Rhineland Palatinate.

The book was printed and published by Johann Andreas Kranzbühler (born 1795 - died 1866).  Johann Kranzbuhler was owner of the Buchdruckerei Worms, Hesse.  In 1819 he took over the business from his uncle.  In 1830 he purchased property from Friedrich Renz on the corner of Wollstraße and Speyerstraße in Worms, where he conducted his printing business for 46 years.

This printing house was one of the most successful in Worms in that era.  The company's primary competition was the printing house of Conrad Boeninger.

Johann married Eleonore Christine Wandersleben in 1819 at Worms.  In 1860, Johann's nephew joined the printing company, Eugen Kranzbühler.

Kranzbühler was a popular printer with the Mennonite / Anabaptist community.  In 1830 he printed Predigten eines Mennoniten-Predigers in Württemberg. This publication was the text of two funeral sermons for  the death of the Mennonite preacher Samuel Zeisset / Zeissett, of Lautenbach, and for the death of the wife of Christian Hunzinger, Eva Fellman Hunzinger of Heinsheim.  That rare imprint is in Bethel College Library in Newton, Kansas.

Condition:   Nice Condition: No library or institution markings. Pages are mostly clean, with only minor smudges. The front cover has a small area  (.50 x 2.50 inch) cut off the top right corner. Pages are securely attached.
