Good day; for your consideration is this fabulous circa 1800 huge copper, brass, and bronze coffee urn. It was no doubt used in a restaurant or hotel, for serving coffee, from the stoneware tap and hot water from the other tap. I will let the eight following photographs do most of the talking. However before you get bored with my description I would like to say that the brass ring has some damage in four different places, it is still very sturdy and solid could be repaired or left at your discretion, both the copper vessel and stoneware vessel are water tight. This fantastic urn was also in need of a bit of plumping work which (can be seen below replaced copper feed line, brass nipple and new gaskets) has been taken care of by a master plumber. The bronze valves work properly and also have small petcocks on them to turn off the flow to the sight glasses, one of which is missing and the one that is present has chips on both ends, (you can get replacements online under glass tubing). The dome shaped stoneware crock is in very good to excellent condition, with no cracks and only a few minor chips on the outside edge that cannot be seen. You have to notice the riveted construction for strength and solder for water tight integrity, I mention this because my plumber drilled out the rivets on the copper, nickel plated top retaining ring in order to lift out the stoneware liner to complete the aforementioned repairs. This ring has been reinstalled with brass screws with brass acorn nuts. Please ask any and all questions this is a rare and fantastic piece of American history, I am doing my best to describe it but I have no doubt missed a few things. The approx. dimensions are as follows, top of the finial is 38" top of the urn is 30" diameter at the widest not counting taps is 16" OD, and the ID of the stoneware liner is 12". This fantastic urn is available for local pick, I will also dismantle, (as seen below, remove taps and stoneware crock) and ship this item to the lower 48 states in two or maybe three boxes. ....More pictures below....
