RareAntique Folk Art Dark Brown Gigantic Teddy Bears

Everyone who has seen these adorable bears has fallen madly in love with them. You just have to pick up these handmade babies for a moment and snuggle with them- it's heaven! They'd be a unique and wonderful addition to your FOLK ART collection, or the spectacular superstar your antique BEAR or TOY collection.

They date from around 1920 and are made of dark brown mohair. They measure about 23" from head to toe, 19" from arm to arm and 24" around the chest. These guys are extremely rare because people stopped making bears this large and dark when they discovered that small children were frightened by them. From then on bears were created smaller and in lighter colors. They also have a larger snout. Personally, I think it gives them character.

These bears also have a slight hump in their back which dates them as earlier rather than later bears. Toy bears were made popular by Teddy Roosevelt around 1910.

I just arbitrarily dressed the Mama bear in her apron but you can take it off when you get her home. Her condition is not as good as the Papa bear as you can see in the pics. Since they have been together for almost 85 years I'd hate to split them up, wouldn't you? I just know there's someone out there who'd love to give them a good home. Is it You?
