Hello!! Thank you for taking time to visit my auction! Today we have a very unusual maybe rare? Antique Oil Lamp Shade. I believe the shade is possibly made out of lead? that is painted green. What makes this shade unusual is that the interior of the shade has been mirrored for reflection. The shade measures approximately 3 5/8 in. tall, the diameter measures 8 in., and the diameter of the small opening at the top of the shade measures 2 in. On the side of the shade there is an original label from the company that produced this shade. The label reads " H Celer Reflector Co / Boston Mass / Pat. Nov 28 1882/ Pat. Oct 28 1889/ Style No 581". I have tried to look this company up on the internet for more information but have not been able to find any history about this company. As far as the condition of the shade I would say is pretty good for being 120 years old! All the mirrors on the interior of the shade are in place however they do show a small amount of darkening around the edges which I assume is common for antique mirrors. The shade also has a slight bend on one side (not noticeable) this is only noticed if you try to put the shade base on a flat surface. I would bet you could probably bend this back into shape but i will leave that up to the next owner! Even if this is not a rare shade it would still be a wonderful item to add to any antique oil lamp collection, especially since good antique shades are hard to find!
