PLEASE SEE ALL 12 PICTURES. You are bidding on Very Rare Antique Russian Infantry Sword dated 1863. This nice Antique Sword belonged to the Reign of Alexander II (1855-1881) and Polish Uprising (1863-1864) that was suppressed by Russian Army after eighteen months of fierce fighting. This is very nice looking massive sword resembles the Roman Infantry Sword. One of the design considerations was its use against cavalry. Since cavalry often charged artillery positions, this sword was designed to rip open the horses belly's or break their legs as they leapt over the revetments protecting the cannon emplacements, and then attack the fallen riders. This sword is very heavy, overall length is 26". Double edge, fierce straight blade is still razor sharp without any evidence for sharpening. The blade tapers upon leaving the guard to swell again and then tapers to the point and marked at the base with "F in CIRCLE" which stands for Chief Armorer IBACH, who was working at ZLATOUST Arms Factory in 1851-1866. Other side marked with "W in CIRCLE" which stands for Quality Blades Checker E.Vofertz at Zlatoust Arms Factory. Very good quality attractive blade without any rust or pitting. Comfortable cast brass hand grip. The hilt marked 1863 and other mark which difficult to read, but it looks like a sprawled eagle. The blade fits nice an tight into the scabbard except last 1/8". The leather scabbard is in excellent shape without any breaks and 100% stitching Scabbards comes with an original brass mountings with belt mounting button. Overall this is very attractive and Rare Russian Infantry Sword. It is your chance to have it. Enjoy it. PLEASE SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS. Buyer pays shipping cost. Buyer shall make contact within 48 hours. Seller reserves rights not to sell to the bidders with multiple negative feedbacks.
