Rare Big Sur Monterey Cali Jade Maori Hook Pendant

This rare jade pendant is cut from Big Sur or Monterey Jade. It has a beautiful shape and a green color with some dark green almost black on one side. The Maori hook represents prosperity, fertility and safe passage over water. This pendant measures in at 47 x 26 x 4.4mm and weights 35 carats with a 2mm hole.. The polish is good. It is very difficult to make things from Ocean Jade. There is a tremendous loss in the process consequently there are very few carved Big Sur jade items on the market and any necklace made from this pendant will command a very high price or it can be worn alone with a simple cord or chain.
