Rare CARRIAGE CLOCK 5 min. REPEATER + Alarm c1890 NoR



This fine Carriage Clock is made in France the end of the 19th century. It’s a so called “Pendule de voyage”. It has alarm system and 1/1 and ½ hours striking mechanism, but also striking on demand the hours and striking on demand the 5 minutes in every hour, very advanced !
Four sides fine cutted glass, set in a gilt bronze case, the top glass window shows the balance wheel. Hinging back door, hinging top handle.
White enamelled dial with steel hands and Roman numerals. Time set dial with 1-12 numerals and steel pointer.
The advanced clockwork has balance escapement, about 8 days going work. Striking every 1/1 and ½ hour on a blue steel spring gong by two different sized hammer. Alarm system on it’s own spring (at back platine left side above), alarm time to set by key.
Above the dial in front the button for hours repeating, at the back above side the button for five minutes repeating (f.e. : when it’s 08.35 hours time the larger hammer strikes eight times when the front button is pushed and it strikes 7 times -7x5 min.- with the other hammer when the back button is pushed). Good running and striking condition. Original key included.
Measurements : at base 4" x 3.5", high 6”, incl. handle 7.5” high, carriage case outside 4.75” x 5”, high 7”. Overall in good and original condition, some damage to the leather of the case, please view all the pictures.
