Rare Treasure
This unique and stunning epergne is made up of
the following pieces:
● 5" (flat bottom) Peg Vase 1633
● 2 Candle Arms 1563
● 3 Bobeche to hold 8 Prisms ea.
● 24 Prisms
● 8 1/4" Tall Single Candle Stick 563
What makes this piece rare is the tall
candlestick. These are very difficult to find and in my
research I couldn't find any online anywhere. That isn't to say
there are not some out there, I just wasn't able to locate a single
one.
This particular piece was collected and put
together about 20 years ago by a Cambridge Arms fan. Each pieces age
is not known. It's in excellent condition. No candle drips,
chips or cracks. Mint all the way!
Epergnes before 1900 were silver
primarily and were table centerpieces with bowls, vases and candle
holders. These elaborate centerpieces were used for
fruit, candies, flowers and candles. After 1900 glass
and crystal epergnes were introduced and became
popular. They were equally beautiful in their ability to reflect
light yet easier to maintain than silver, though more delicate.
This epergne will be the centerpiece to any room.
On a buffet or dining table standing unadorned it's just
magnificent. Just think how dramatic it would be at
Christmas with red candles and
roses or holly in the vase and in the
Bobeches if you so choose. In spring with lilacs or
pink roses you'll have an outstanding centerpiece
for gatherings. The possibilities are endless. This will be a
family heirloom to be handed down from generation
to generation.
Be sure and scroll down to see the close up
photos. You'll see the quality and condition of
this stunning centerpiece.
You'll rarely see a Cambridge Arms
Epergne this elaborate up for sale.
Note: The mirrored base you see in the photo is
not part of the auction.
