Here for auction is a beautiful faceted Benitoite. Benitoite is one of the rarest gemstones on earth. Gem quality Benitoite is only found one place, a small area in San Benito County, CA.

Benitoite can range in color from dark blue to light blue, white to clear.

Benitoite fluoresces a beautiful blue color under shortwave ultra violet light. If it does not fluoresce this bright blue color, then it is not benitoite.

Be very cautious of stones being sold from China and Thailand. There are many reports of these "benitoite" stones fluorescing a red color, These are not benitoite!

This stone for sale weighs in at .36 cts. It has a pear cut and measures 5.2 mm x 3.8 mm x 2.9 mm. It is light blue in color overall with a medium blue tip, due to color zoning which is very common with benitoite. This is a great example of how benitoite can be very pale in one direction and deep blue when viewed from another direction. It has amazing fire and the cut is just perfect. The stone is eye clean but is slightly included (VS), but due to it's amazing cut and fire, it is very hard to see without a 10X loupe. 

As with all of the benitoite I sell, this stone is 100% natural, no treatment of any kind!

 Please look at all of the photos and ask any questions before making your purchase. The photos are taken at extreme magnification in different lighting types, but never any color enhancement. Many of what may look like marks or a scratch on the surface of the stone, is actually dust or cotton fibers.
