Rare Large Sterling Silver Sauce Boat Georg Jensen 1924

Magnificent and rare Sterling silver sauce boat by Georg Jensen, made in Denmark circa 1920-24 and with London import marks for 1924.

This is a superbly designed and most beautiful silver sauce boat made by the Danish masters of Georg Jensen. The shape is stunning and it is a piece of exceptional quality and detail.

The silver has a wonderful patina also.

The sauce boat is has a higher and wider bowl which tapers towards the pouring spout. To the back is a lovely spread handle with three silver balls to the top and a spreading 'V' shape tapering and curving down to where it joins the base of the sauce boat.

The body itself sits of a magnicent bed of curved uprights with silver balls between them.

The sauce boat is both large and heavy. It is 6-1/2 inches / 165 mm long, 2-3/4 inches / 70 mm wide and it stands about 4-1/2 inches / 114 mm high.

It weighs 226 grams.

The underside bears clear Danish hallmarks, 925S for Sterling silver and the Georg Jensen mark used 1915-1930. The side of the sauce boat also bears London import marks with sponsor's mark GS for George Stockwell and letter i for 1924.

The piece is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.

This is a wonderful and rare piece of early Georg Jensen silver.
