| This is a beautiful cut fragment of the Jiddat al Harasis 267 meteorite. This meteorite was found in 2005 in Al Wusta province, Oman, near the town of Haima. I have searched the strewnfield, without success! Many pieces were found in a strewnfield of ~6 km by ~1 km. Over 20 kilograms were found, most of which is in Omani and Swiss scientific collections, and not available to collectors.
This meteorite is a very rare type of stony-iron, a mesosiderite (MES). The mesosiderites are a unique class, comprised of a mixture of achondritic material and nickel-iron, likely from deep within the Asteroid, Vesta. This specimen is a fragment that weighs 0.556 gram. It is a very rare addition to any meteorite collection. The cube in the photo measures 1 cm. It is for measurement purposes only and not included in the auction. I am a meteorite dealer and fully gaurantee the authenticity of every meteorite and tektite specimen I sell. Be sure to see me in the March 1999 issue of the Smithsonian Magazine, I am featured in an article about meteorite hunters! I am also featured in Fortune Small Business magazine.
