Fabulous Mother of Pearl Satin Glass Hanging Lamp. A Rare circa 1880s Victorian Hanging Candle Lamp fixture with a large cased Mother of Pearl Satin glass shade of extraordinary beauty. The shade with white interior cased with wonderful salmon pink and a seldom seen Mother of Pearl pattern known as “Random #1” on the Stu Horn website, Identification of Mother of Pearl Glass patterns. It is a pattern similar to Rivulet which has been attributed to Thomas Webb & Sons. The shade measures 10 inches in diameter and 10 inches deep. There is one manufacturing burst internal air bubble, it is encased inside the glass and pictured, and inside a manufacturing fracture in the white glass only , pictured, this is caused by the internal burst air bubble and has not gone into the satin glass casing. On a piece of this size this manufacturers flaw has little if any impact on display. The brass fixtures are very ornate and obviously original, the candle holder still intact inside the lower part. On the ceiling rose there are holes to hang prisms if wished. The overall drop is approx 27 inches. It is a Lamp of outstanding quality and simply a gorgeous example of Mother of Pearl Satin Glass. It will be dissembled for safe shipping, with the shade double boxed.
