Holy Land Silver Shlichim Beaker Kiddush Cup, Palestine / Poland, Mid 19th Century, Judaica

A Holy Land silver (NOT silver plated) Shlichim (Messengers) beaker Kiddush cup, Palestine / Poland, mid 19th century, Judaica.
The beaker is chased with two holy land scene vignettes, one depicting the Western Wall (Ha\'Kotel Ha\'Maaravi) and the other depicting David\'s Tower (Migdal David), alternating with flowers.
Fully marked with Polish silver marks as seen in the pictures.
Attractive piece which is an absolute must for any serious collector.
A superb Judaica, Jewish, Hebrew, Israel item.

As written concerning a similar beaker in A Collector\'s Guide To Judaica by Jay Weinstein; page 53; item #39:
\"These cups, very popular with collectors, are something of a mystery. This example is decorated with three engraved architectural vignettes of the Holy Land, titled in Hebrew. The workmanship is excellent, and collectors pay thousands of dollars for such cups, vastly more than for a similar plain Polish beaker…some scholars claim that such pieces were made in Palestine - which is unlikely as even the decoration is very Polish. Perhaps they were made by Polish emigrant craftsmen resident in Palestine, working in their natural style, using old, undecorated beakers.\".
Another possibility is that the cup was made in Palestine and was brought to Europe by charity collection messengers, being designed in a Jewish theme to show where they have come from. On this journey it was struck with the Polish silver mark as an import mark, upon entering Poland and again upon entering the Netherlands.
