Up for auction is very rare vintage root beer (dark red) resin washed bakelite pin/brooch: carved racing horse head pin. The thoroughbred horse has a vitality and speed that shows with his ears facing backward and his neck elongated as he is striving for the finish. His eye is a yellow glass bead with black enamel center. The pin measures: the horse head is about 2 ½ " x 2 1/4". The brooch is in excellent condition (all original, including pin mechanism) despite it’s age which is estimated to be late 1930’s – early 1940’s. This is a book collector's piece: this pin/brooch is featured in almost every book devoted to bakelite jewelry (see, for instance, Collecting Art Plastic Jewelry by Leigh Leshner, p. 34) ; estimated value of the brooch is about $1,400. Guaranteed to be vintage bakelite (tested with 409 and simichrome). This brooch will not disappoint the avid Bakelite collector, or the horseracing enthusiast.

Successful buyer agrees to pay $7.50 above the winning bid for USPS shipping, handling, and tracking to anywhere in the Continental US; Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico extra (please contact the seller). Insurance extra. Payment options: we accept Paypal, money orders, cashiers checks, and personal checks (must clear before shipping - please allow 7-10 days). For Paypal and credit card users: we will ship only to confirmed addresses. The winning bidder must reply with payment within 72 hours (3 days), otherwise it will be assumed you do not intend to honor your bid and the item will be relisted for sale. Non-paying bidders will receive a negative feedback; we always leave feedback for those who take the trouble to leave feedback for us. Leaving a negative feedback without giving the seller an opportunity to resolve a problem will unfortunately reciprocate the same given feedback. Return policy: no returns, no refunds, all sales are final. The winning bidder also agrees that this is an 'as is' auction and therefore by placing a bid waives any and all rights to warranties, chargebacks or refunds for any reason. Postage and handling charge takes into account the packaging, time and cost of listing, as well as all the associated expenses, and is non-negotiable. The actual shipping charge has nothing to do with shipping/handling charges as stated. Please do not bid if you disagree with shipping/handling charges. Serious bidders only, please. We do not combine shipping. The seller is not responsible for items shipped uninsured, lost or damaged during transportation. Bid with confidence! The seller reserves the right to reject and/or refuse to sell items to bidders with negative, zero, or small feedback. If your feedback score is less than 10, or it’s private, please contact the seller before placing a bid – otherwise your bid will be probably cancelled. Do not hesitate to e-mail us if you have any questions before bidding; we do not answer questions, except for shipping/handling concerns, after the auction is over. Remember: your bid is a contract! Good luck!
