Rare Vintage Crepe Halloween Pumpkin Costume Dress

Welcome to Robins in the Trundle Bed, brimming with antiques, whimsies, and fripperies that we have gathered in treasure hunts over the New England countryside.  We are pleased to offer this adorable vintage pumpkin costume.  The costume is made from crepe paper.  It includes an orange hat with black thread stitching that is decorated with two black crepe pompoms. The top of the hat has black and orange tassels that fold over.  The interior is lined in a thick tissue paper. 

The costume has three pieces. The first is an oversized orange shirt with short sleeves.  The sleeves and the collar are trimmed in medium green crepe which is hand sewn on with white tread.  The waist is stitched with white thread as a finish. 

The skirt is also oversized and is lightly gathered at the waist with white thread stitching.   There is a green edging on the bottom of the skirt.

The final piece is a Kelly green sash that is made from a thicker felt-like paper.  It measures 73” in length and is about 5” wide.

This is a rare piece to have survived in such good condition!! Most homemade crepe costumes were thrown away not soon after Halloween passed!

 Condition and Size:

The hat is in very good condition.  Where the tassel was glued to the hat, there is a hole (that is hidden by the tassel)  and some minor discoloration.  It appears to be in unworn condition. The hat is 11”across and 9” high, not including the tassels.

The top is in good, wearable condition.  There are scattered small holes and one small rip at the back of the garment.  There aren’t any fasteners as it was to be pinned closed at the back of the neckline. The waist is 50”.  It is 14.5” long from shoulder to waist.

The skirt is in good to very good condition.  There are scattered holes and a few scattered pindots that don’t detract from its wearabilty. There are a few pin dot discoloration.  It is 25” long and the waist is large measuring  44” , but was meant to gathered in and pinned.

The sash in good condition with a few scattered pindots, a few wrinkles and one small tear.

We will not ship Parcel Post as it is an unreliable service.  We do not charge a handling fee, but will pack your item with great attention and care. Please use the shipping calculator to figure shipping charges.  We let you know shipping costs up front.  Please do not bid if you are not happy with the USPS Priority Mail rate. We are happy to combine shipping if you win multiple items and will contact you after the auction has ended with combined shipping costs.  We strongly suggest that you purchase insurance. Please wait for an invoice before paying, since insurance is based on the final value of the item.

We will ship internationally.  If you are the winning bidder and not a US resident, please e-mail us for shipping costs at the close of the auction.   International auction winners, please do not pay until you receive exact shipping costs from us (not the first email from Ebay as the calculator will not figure exact international shipping). International buyers, please know that we ship the best and quickest way possible and when possible we will offer you two shipping options.
