Rare vintage Zeiss Ikon Contaflex LTR camera 860/24 with Zeiss Sonnar 5cm f2 taking lens. Lens serial numbers would date it to about 1937-38. 50mm # is 1930999; 80mm viewfinder is 1724554. Body serial number (I think) is A46604. It is the number on the film winder knob. I would rate this camera at good to average condition. Everything seems to function OK, but I can't figure out how to change the shutter speeds. The shutter does work and reset, but the lever must be manually returned to the up position - maybe supposed to be that way? Meter seems to be inoperative. Focus and aperture control work smoothly. Blades have a little oil on them. Taking lens seems a little cloudy but undamaged. Viewfinder lens is a little cloudy, no damage that I could see. View thru viewfinder is a little cloudy with some dust specks, etc. See pix. Body is very good with no damage but with some brassing on the high spots. Leather is good, no peeling. Examine the pictures closely - they represent the cosmetic condition pretty accurately. Comes with original case in fair condition with a broken seam and some replaced parts. Overall this is a good example of a classic camera, showing its age.

NOTE: I tried to be accurate as I can with the description, but I am not an authority on vintage cameras, especially Contaflexes, so this camera may have other issues I am unaware of. I can't guarantee it will be a picture taker right out of the box. It should be considered a collector camera, and may need some TLC to be usable. This sale is final, so ask your questions before bidding.

Ships via UPS, signature required, in the US, Priority Mail internationally. Local pickup is OK. Winner must contact me within 3 days of auction end, and make payment within 7 days. Paypal only for now.

A: Thanks. I used your method and I got the shutter speeds to work except for B, which seems to give me a 1/2 second exposure. Unless there is a special procedure for B. I can't testify to the absolute accuracy of the... Continue reading

Q: Based on the difference in the serial numbers of the viewing an taking lenses, the taking lens is probably not the original lens. The serial numbers should be much closer to each other. The original owner probably upgraded from... Continue reading
A: Yes, I should have worded that more clearly. I believe the camera & viewfinder lens are from '37 and the 5cm taking lens is from '38. I don't make any claim that the taking lens is the original one.
