This auction is for a beautiful, handcarved wooden sculpture depicting an elephant. It was meticulously hand crafted by a master Balinese woodcarver, from a solid block of beautiful tropical suar wood, with tusks made of exotic crocodile wood. This statue shows the elephant in a reclining position, an unusual pose for a sculpture. More pictures are listed below, so please scroll down. Already imported, ships from the U.S.

The detail on this sculpture is incredible! The musculature and the folds in the skin have all been expertly crafted into the wood, giving this piece great texture, detail, and depth. Please click on a few of the photos to see the full-size pictures.

I bought this piece from a master Balinese woodcarver named Wayan. He and his wife had a small booth at an artists market near the village of Ubud, Bali. His sculptures were more refined than many of the others I'd seen (and after 6 years of buying handicrafts in Bali, I have developed an eye for such things,) and the unusual reclining pose of the elephant also caught my interest. And he also had some other great sculptures, so I ended up buying several crates full of his work. It was a good day for both Wayan and my self!

ITEM CONDITION, PLEASE READ: This sculpture is in very good condition, with only one visible flaw. There is a crack in the wood, but it has been repaired with wood filler. Please see the close-up pictures below. I have tried to photograph the sculpture accurately. This is a beautiful piece, and an outstanding examples of the skill and talent of the Balinese woodcarvers.

Payment Details

eBay no longer allows sellers to accept payment through the mail, so now the only payment method I can accept is Paypal. Instant payments by Paypal are processed immediately upon receipt. Paypal e-chex are processed after the payment clears, usually about 3 to 5 days. Please make payments within 7 days of auction close, or at least contact me. Shipping Details

Most items ship within 3 to 5 business days after payment clears. All items are professionally packed with the utmost care, and insurance is included in the shipping price. I use Fedex Home Delivery for the vast majority of shipments. In most cases, they will leave the package at your door. If you do NOT want the package left at your door, you must inform me when you send payment! I can arrange for "signature required" delivery for an additional $2 charge. Shipping is to U.S. destinations only. I do not ship to Canada. I am sometimes asked to make special delivery arrangements: please understand that any procedure outside of my established routine may may result in a delay.
