The Rena Automatic Gravel vacuum is a must for any serious aquarist. No matter what filtration you use a gravel vacuum will help you maintain a cleaner and healthier environment for your fish by both removing waste that settles to the bottom and facilitating weekly water changes.
The Rena gravel vacuum provides a combination of unique features not found on any gravel vacuums sold today. First, the gravel vacuum is self-priming(pic 4). A few quick up and down strokes, starts the unit flowing. The handy shut off valve which can be mounted anywhere on the tubing line allows the flow to be stopped without having to re-prime, a real time saver if you are working on several tanks.
The telescoping head with locking ring extends from 9-1/2 inches to 19 inches so you'll be able to reach into the corners with ease and your fish will appreciate the strainer built into the top of the unit to prevent your fish from taking a wild ride out of the tank!
Unlike other gravel vacuums the Rena automatic gravel vacuum features a reversible head with an angled tip for tight spots or if you prefer a straight tip (pics 1&2). The tips have built-in rakes for thorough agitation of the gravel while vacuuming insuring you get a thorough cleaning below the surface of the gravel. You'll also appreciate the extra adaptors (pic 3) included with the unit so that other tubing type/sizes can be used with the system if you prefer.
