  • RM PRO® allow retailers to apply a common inventory management technique to a variety of supplying vendors and the management of in-store inventory. It even accommodates the administration of inventory between multiple retail locations.
  • Differentiation of Consignment, Sales/Purchases, and On-Approval Transactions.
      • These types of businesses have inventory coming in and going out which is not only purchased but also consigned. (Consignment is when inventory is sent out from a vendor to your business, or from your business to another business for resale, with a promise to sell. Payment is not expected until the item is sold to a customer).
      • From an accounting perspective, consigned inventory is handled differently than bought inventory. Most inventory packages deal with this type of transaction only as a purchase, which complicates the cash management of an industry with a high degree of consignment. It is essential to these types of high-end businesses to keep accurate records of consignment purchases as it directly impacts what money is expected to come in or go out.

  • Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) and Unique Numeric Identification (UNI).
      • RM PRO® has the unique ability to track both SKU and UNI for each and every inventory item. Because RM PRO® was designed to handle UNI as well as SKU, it integrates both identification methods. From a database management perspective, it is very difficult to integrate UNI into a database structure that was designed for SKU.
      • RM PRO®'s UNI with SKU approach allows for seamless conversion of a bundle of items of a certain SKU into unique inventory items once the items are sold, consigned or otherwise dealt with. This is an extremely important feature which other software packages do not deal with. For instance, a warehouse has 250 items in a certain SKU. A customer comes in and purchases 15 of those items. At this point, these 15 items must be differentiated from the 250, as each 1 of the 15 gets its own life once sold, consigned, etc. This tracking must take place while never losing the link to the SKU.

This overall approach to keeping inventory makes it possible not only to track dynamic and extensive inventory in a precise way, but also allows for extremely comprehensive inventory performance analysis.

What is the most important asset of your business? What in your business can not be replaced? Many people answer it’s their inventory, or their location, or their personnel. While it’s true that all these matter, they can all be replaced.

The most important asset of your business is your data. That’s the only part of a business that cannot be replicated or upgraded or made larger. Your data is who came, what they bought, when they bought, where they came from, what brought them in, how much they spent, etc. Your data is priceless.

Larger companies have teams of CPA’s and MBA’s on board to review and analyze their data, generate reports, and offer guidance on management decision-making. Most small to mid-sized businesses, on the other hand, can’t reasonably afford to hire that level of management personnel.

However, small to mid-size business owners do know the “ins and outs” of their business better than anyone. What’s more, given the right information and analysis, they can react and adjust much more quickly and effectively than large retailers. We have created Business Intelligence to provide an overview of your data to you almost instantaneously, and in the most meaningful way. It’s like having an MBA and CPA on your side, but not on your payroll.

Sales

Business Intelligence is a distinct add-on module for RM Pro. This is a separate application which displays the most commonly viewed reports in a graphic format. It includes multiple sections, such as Sales, customers, salespeople and Inventory. Each section holds spots for six different active dynamic graphs to be displayed at once. Each graph illustrates information which businesses commonly need to know, but Business Intelligence gives it to you without having to enter the reports module and run each individual report. The traditional way of opening each and every report one after another takes approximately 15-20 minutes, whereas Business Intelligence allows you to get your information in minutes, all together on one screen.

Imagine checking over 300 different reports every day. For each one, you have to open the report, select the conditions, select additional options, and generate the report. Then you need to scroll to the last page to the bottom and check the total number. For some reports, you would also want to generate a graph, which takes additional time to select options and tweak the graph. Finally, you get the information you need; you close the report, and move to the next one. This method of receiving information is referred to as ‘Pulling’

RM Pro’s Business Intelligence does all this for you. We call this method ‘Pushing’. There are a number of dashboard reports, each of which presents a snapshot of the core information you need to assess whether your business is in good health. Business Intelligence gives you instant information to alert you to what is actually happening with your numbers.

Information in Business Intelligence is presented in graph format to make it immediately and easily understandable. Each graph reflects an actual report which already exists in RM Pro…a report which is generated and updated automatically in the course of day-to-day business. These are the most commonly accessed reports which exist for the purpose of tracking business performance, but reviewing all of them on a daily basis is a time-consuming task. With Business Intelligence, you can get a “big picture” look whenever you need or want it.

Notification Module:
Another frantic day, meetings with clients, with bankers, family doctor appointments, and a business improvement seminar you must attend, but you cannot focus because you are worried about what is happening at the store(s) while you are away. So you call every ten minutes for an update; sure, they are good employees and you trust them, but no one looks out for your investment like you, and no one knows the pressures you’re under, right?

Common thoughts among business owners, whether they say it aloud or not is, “I am only one person” and “There are not enough hours in a day to get everything done I need to do!” Most business owners take on multiple roles -- manager, salesperson, accountant, marketing promoter, dad, mom, aunt, uncle, friend, wife, husband -- all while running a successful business and attempting to have some semblance of a social life.

RM Pro’s Notification System automatically sends Email or SMS messages upon certain events to a variety of people, such as the customer, vendor, and/or salesperson related to the event. On events such as Receiving Back-Order Items, RM Pro will notify both the salesperson and the customer related to the Back-Order invoice when the items are received from the vendor and are therefore available for delivery or pick-up. But more importantly, it will inform you any time, any where about what is happening in your business while you are not on the premises. All this pertinent information delivered to you, the store owner/manager, in real time – as it is happening.

All notifications available in RM Pro include a set of conditions, similar to how all the reports work. Whenever an event occurs, the event must meet the conditions which are specified in order to qualify for notification. For example, when an invoice is created, you may wish to be notified only if the invoice is at least $2,000 and generated at a particular location. You set the rules.
There are two parts that drive the operations portion of your business -- information, and security. Notification provides you with both of these critical aspects.

With real time information being pushed down to you at a moment’s notice, RM Pro Notification gives you a chance to breathe and gives new meaning to being in two places at one time. After consulting with a number of our major customers we decided to include notifications triggered by following Events. Messages will only be sent if the related event meets specific criteria which you determine. Currently, these events include:

  1. New Invoice - This event occurs when a new invoice is created in Point Of Sale.
  2. Editing Invoice - Any changes in Invoice status – like canceling or discounting of Item in a Back-Order or On-Approval Invoice.
  3. New Payment Applies when a customer makes a payment on an existing invoice.
  4. Return from Customer - Occurs every time a customer returns item or a service.
  5. Return to Vendor - Occurs whenever items are returned to the Vendor.
  6. Void Transaction - Voiding any kind of transaction.
  7. Receiving of Purchase Order - Whenever a Purchase Order is received.
  8. PO Expected Date Changed - Occurs when a user adjusts the expected date of a Purchase Order.
  9. Receiving Back-Order Items - Occurs when items are received which are linked to a back-order.
  10. Batch Transfer Sent - Occurs every time items are sent for transfer between locations.
  11. Batch Transfer Received - Occurs every time items are received from a transfer between locations.
  12. Additional Notes - Occurs whenever a note is created.
  13. Beginning of Day - Alerts the business with what needs attention for the current day.
  14. End of Day - Alerts the business at the end of the day with a complete summary of what happened.

The Open to Buy feature of RM Pro® is a powerful tool that can help you make informed decisions in a critical area: what to buy and why.
Find out in moments what your best sellers are…compare groups or categories of items to determine selling history, aging, profit margin and more, all ranked in a points system that guides your decision-making.

With that information, you’ll only order what you know you can sell easily, quickly, and at the best profit based on your company’s historical data.
