Like Kittysville, man a swank pad for your hep cat or mini dog Like Kittysville is a line of cat-oriented yet dog-friendly lounges featuring a mod boomerang shape and vintage fabrics. Each bed is molded of steel mesh that's upholstered and connected to a sleek wood base. The birch plywood base is easily removed so the fabric bed can be hand-washed and air-dried. The fabric and polyester/acrylic padding are prewashed. The bed accommodates any size cat or small dog, with space to either stretch out fully or curl up snugly in the corner. The bed length from the inner corner to the front edge is about 22 inches on the long side and about 16 inches on the shorter side. The bed has easily passed weight tests of up to 24 pounds. t h e f a b r i c This bed is covered in new vintage drapery fabric, a nubby twill weave in an elegant shade of light rust. The base is stained a medium walnut tone and polished with a wax finish. Shown modeling the bed is Liesl, a 9-pound rescue kitty. After these photos her shed hairs were, we hope, all removed. The creator of Like Kittysville is an award-winning design graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. Her lifelong collection of remarkable retro fabrics is matched only by a lifelong devotion to her collection of remarkable rescued and formerly feral cats. On the underside of the fabric bed are three cord loops which hook over three brass screws in the wood base. Assembly is practically instantaneous. It can drip dry outdoors or indoors, although drying takes longer in humid or cold conditions. For most cleaning and hair removal, brushing the fabric with a damp cloth followed by a lint roller (or big piece of tape) makes the bed look new again. Spot cleaning can be done by gently rubbing the fabric with a soapy cloth and allowing it to air-dry. |
