Roger Dubuis is a growing young Manufacture, begun in 1995 with the partnership of Roger Dubuis and Carlos Dials. Dubuis, a talented watchmaker, founded his own atelier in 1980 after 14 years of developing complications for Pate Philippe. He took commissions to design new complications for major brands for several years before finally drawing designer Carlos Dials away from Franck Muller to launch his own brand. Roger Dubuis was born in Geneva and all of his watches, strongly associated with that culture, are submitted to the quality hallmark of the Poi non de Geneve as well as receiving chronometer certification. Looking at the off-beat models designed by Carlos Dias one can easily lose sight of the watch making prowess involved. The limited edition pieces and flamboyant designs are all based on a foundation of solid watch making skill and in-house complications.
Roger Dubuis' movement component production facility has recently been purchased by the Richemont group to support the increased demand for high end movements. The agreement also includes distribution by the Richemont Group of the Roger Dubuis brand in the U.S. and other key markets.
Roger Dubuis will remain an independent brand and Richemont will supply Roger Dubuis with components from the facility--This Partnership will undoubtedly give more strength to the already Well Respected Brand!
Quality, design, trend-setting power and exclusivity are the four criteria inherent to the Roger Dubois brand and perfectly born out by the unique Excalibur collection. In addition to the classic round shape, Excalibur innovates in terms of design through powerful signature features: its diameter, its wristband secured by the brand's characteristic triple lugs, its refined crown guard and its fluted bezel mean this model simply cannot be compared with any other on the market. This immediately identifiable architecture sculpted in gold, steel or titanium is admirably associated with complicated or "Grande Complication" movements.
The featured watch is a Roger Dubuis Excalibur Chronograph in Stainless Steel measuring 45mm in diameter. It has an incredible Silver Dial with Painted Black Roman Numerals and Two Subdials for the Chronograph at 3 o'clock (45-Minute Register) and 9 o'clock (60-Second Register). With a Screw-down Crown and Exhibition Caseback that reveals it's spectacular Manual Wind Movement, the watch truly makes a statement. It is unique and masculine, sporty and stylish. Water Resistant to 50 meters. 42-Hour Power Reserve. The watch comes on a Roger Dubuis Black Rubber Strap with a Deployant Buckle.
Personal Note--The Easy Diver is a huge hit by Roger Dubuis, and continues to be extremely popular and well loved. The Excalibur, though, is the next step in the evolutionary chain which incorporates all of the best features of the Easy Diver, yet adds all of the latest refinements and a much larger dial, a better integrated lug system, and a much more comfortable fit and feel on the wrist. It is a bold piece that is a standout piece in the watch industry. We LOVE it!!
