Roger Dubuis is a growing young Manufacturer, established in 1995 with the partnership of Roger Dubuis and Carlos Dias. Dubuis, a talented watchmaker, founded his own atelier in 1980 after 14 years of developing complications for Patek Philippe. He took commissions to design new complications for major brands for several years before finally drawing designer Carlos Dias away from Franck Muller to launch his own brand. Roger Dubuis was born in Geneva and all of his watches, strongly associated with that culture, are submitted to the quality hallmark of the Poinon de Geneve, as well as receiving C.O.C.S. chronometer certification. Looking at the off-beat models designed by Carlos Dias one can easily lose sight of the watchmaking prowess involved. The limited edition pieces and flamboyant designs are all based on a foundation of solid watchmaking skill and in-house complications.
The featured watch is a Roger Dubuis Limited Edition of 28 Golden Square Triple Retrograde in an 18K White Gold Square 40mm Case with a Curved Pearly White Mother-of-Pearl Dial with Dark Blue Painted Arabic Numerals and Blue Skeleton Hour and Minute Hands at Center. It is an incredible complication, with three retrograde functions for Hours, Minutes and Date. On the top half of the Dial, the Hours are painted around the interior perimeter and the Minutes are painted around the exterior perimeter. On the bottom half of the Dial, the Date Display is Painted around the exterior perimeter, and is controlled by the Third Hand at Center in White. The watch comes on a Black Alligator RD Strap with an 18K White Gold RD Deployment Buckle. It also has a Screw-down Crown, a Solid Caseback and Sapphire Crystal.
Personal Note--This is an amazing watch! It is one of the only watches in the world that is a triple retrograde, all operated by the crown. It is one of a Limited Edition of only 28 pieces worldwide and has an incredible 40mm Hand-Painted Mother-of Pearl Dial. It's Hands are delicate and interesting as well, and overall the watch is just beautiful. It is a sleek design, very masculine and simple, yet unusual. A very rare and special piece which is extremely hard to come by!
