I am always happy to combine shipping winning auctions in order to save on shipping costs. There is more than one pattern with the name Garland. This is the one with International’s *Rogers & Bro. brand mark that dates from 1914, and it is called Garland I to distinguish it from Garland II, by the same maker, which dates from 1937. The design is graceful with a Colonial Revival feel to it. The modern jelly server reflects the changes in food preservation technology. It is much smaller than its predecessor, the aspic knife/trowel. Fruit is now about the only thing served in jellies, and we tend to call them jello, after the popular brand name. A form of jelly is a condiment, served on the side, as in cranberry jelly. The leaf -shaped jelly server is the right size for condiment-sized portions, and for servings of jello. The jelly server offered here measures about 6 z3/4”. This is not a piece of new silver. It shows the patina of as much as 90 years of careful use. There are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. There is no monogram. Silver is softly lustrous. There is some silver loss opn both side sof the blade, and there are some little pits, all the result of age, reasonable use, and the effect of prolonged contact with the sugar in jellies. The pattern is crisp and clear. I polish all silver before listing on eBay. Please email with any questions before bidding. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE AUCTION DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY.
