Signed WEDGE POTTERY
VINTAGE 1985
This is a signed vintage 1985 piece of what looks like bisque pottery. It is a delicate round wall plaque that is 5" in diameter and only about 1/8" thick. It is ready for hanging.
The image is of a lovely classical or romantic woman's profile with flowers in her hair. Her eyes are demurely closed. The colors are a lovely soft pastel in pink, blue and beige. There is no glaze. All the lines that form the images are lightly etched into the clay.
I was only able to find one other piece - a beautiful vase- from this studio.
The back mark was the same, but the front stamp looked different and also incorporated the town and state: Brandon, FL. A search for local potters did not turn up this particular one. Perhaps it was a short lived venture. This piece was purchased at a local Ft Myers estate sale.
UNIQUE! I don't think you will find another like it!
A perfect item for the lady's bath or dressing room!
