Royal Copenhagen
The Christmas Plate 1970
The Christmas Rose and the Cat
Artist: Kai Lange
Mint in its original box
Since 1908, Royal Copenhagen has each year issued a Christmas Plate in the famous technique known as Danish underglaze painting. Each plate is made for one year only; and when the limited production is completed, the moulds are destroyed. This plate was made in 1970 only.
I received this plate as a Christmas gift in 1970, and I have been its only owner.
Please note: While the plate is in perfect condition, the outer box is not. It is torn where the flap is secured. Also 1970 is written on the box, and it seems that the name "Gail" was written and then removed from the box (it still shows faintly, suggesting that my aunt first meant to give it to my cousin Gail before she gave it to me).
I have a smoke free home.
