Presented for consideration is a Royal Doulton Coaching Days Leeds Square Fruit Dish. This very popular series was designed by Victor Venner, it was introduced in 1905 and the range was extended until 1929 and it had been withdrawn from production by 1955.

Attached to my Nicholnack art in pottery web site I have created a Coaching Days Fact file regarding this series, in this fact file I show the 24 unique scenes associated with the  series.  This plate is decorated with scene 1; “Coach being harnessed, attendant bringing up a pair of horses”.

Please note that this is only a partial view of this scene, because of the size the dish the attendant bringing up the horses is not shown. It bears the green stamped under glaze makers’ mark of the style that was intorduced in 1932 until 1942.

  • Dimensions

It measures 21.7 cm (8.5”) in length and width and it is 3.5 cm (1.25”) deep.

  • Condition

It is in EXCELLENT used condition; with NO chips, cracks, stains or repairs and NO crazing. This dish has been used so there are some very fine utensil scratches – nothing really – I only mention for complete accuracy. There is a small rub to the green strip on one edge.

Coaching days is a very popular motif – it always sells – Square Leeds Fruit dishes in this pattern are quite hard to find. Hit the BUY IT NOW tab and make sure that this delight is not pilfered right out from under your nose.
