Presented here for consideration is a Royal Doulton Coaching Days Series Rack Plate. In the Coaching Days fact file of Nicholnack art in pottery I list 24 different scenes that make up this series. This is scene 17:“Coach stopped, broken harness.” This very popular series was designed by Victor Venner and introduced in 1905 and extended until 1929 and it had been withdrawn by 1955. It bears the green stamped under glaze makers’ mark of the style that was in use from 1902 until 1932. Impressed into the base is the date code 8-10: August 1910.

  • Dimensions

It has a diameter of 26 cm (10.3”).

  • Condition

It is in EXCELLENT used condition; with NO chips, cracks, stains or repairs. As is most often the case with production of this style and vintage it is crazed – nothing hideous mind – just enough to impart a delightful antique patina.
