Presented here for consideration is a very RARE Royal Doulton Gaffers Cleveland 6 cup teapot. It bears the inscription: “Gaffers” which is on the lid. This delightful series was designed by C.J. Noke and this large and prestigious piece bears a facsimile of his signature.

This series was introduced in 1921 and withdrawn by 1949. On page 87 of Volume 2 of “Royal Doulton Series Ware”; Louise Irvine lists the 19 known scenes in this series. Irvine lists this as scene 11.

It bears the special back stamp that was only used on the Gaffers series. Written by hand in maroon ink is the pattern number D4210. There is a 30 impressed into the base of the pot.

  • Dimensions

This impressive teapot strides in at a proud 16.5 cm (6.5”) tall and it measures 23 cm (9”) from the outer edge of the handle to the lip of the spout.

  • Condition

It is in EXCELLENT condition; with no chips or cracks. As is so often the case with production of this style and vintage it does exhibit some crazing and the crazing on the pots lid is mildly discoloured.

Gaffers’ is a very popular series and this is a large and hard to come by shape of a very collectable pattern. Hit the BUY IT NOW tab and make sure that this is not the last time you ever see one of these magical Cleveland teapots.
