Presented here for the consideration is a magical Royal Doulton series ware Vase (shape 7493). The series is “Gleaners and Gypsies” which was designed by S Wilson. It was first introduced in 1909 and the range was extended until 1938 and it had been withdrawn from production by 1955.

There are two scenes on this vase. It has the special “The Gipsies” back stamp and the standard Royal Doulton mark that was in use from 1932 until 1942.

The pattern number D.6123 is incorporated into the The Gleaners maker’s mark. This pattern number was introduced into use in 1938, it is the last pattern number issued against this series. This gives us a production era of 1938 to 1942

  • Dimensions

This delightful vase measures 14.5 cm (5.5”) tall and it has a diameter of 7.5 cm (3”).

  • Condition 
It is in EXCELENT condition; with no chips, cracks, stains or repairs. As is so often the case with production of this style and vintage it does exhibit some crazing – nothing hideous – really only just enough to impart a delightful antique patina.
