It is a privilege to present this large and prestigious Royal Doulton “Under The Greenwood Tree” (Robin Hood) Vase. This series was first introduced in 1914 and it was discontinued in 1967.

On my Nicholnack art in pottery website I have built a fact file regarding this series. In the Under The Greenwood Tree fact file I have identified 20 scenes unique to this series. Three of these scenes are present on this vase. They are scene 3:“Friar Tuck joins Robin Hood”; scene 6: “Alan a Dale” and scene 20: “The Camp Fire” This vase is not dated but going by the makers mark and the pattern number (D.6094) I would give it a production era between 1939 and 1942.

  • Dimensions

This impressive vase strides in 17.5 cm (7”) tall and it has a diameter at its broadest of 12.5 cm (5”).

  • Condition

It is in EXCELLENT condition; with no chips, cracks, stains or repairs, but as one must expect from production of this vintage it does exhibit crazing – nothing hideous – just enough to impart a delightful antique patina.

This is just the very best piece. From the colour to the condition and them back to actual pattern; everything about this magical vase is just THE very best.
