This exquisite Royal Worcester Coffee Cup & Saucer was introduced in 1994 and is entitled "Imari Star". It forms part of the Harlequin Collection which comprises a total of four which reproduce those included in the service ordered by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales (The Prince Regent, later to be George IV) in 1807. The unique feature of this service was that each piece had to be of a different pattern and in the Japanese or Imari style and was one of the most costly and extensive services ever produced. H.R.H. was unable to choose a favourite design hence the name "Harlequin". Inspired by some of these unique designs, still preserved amongst the Worcester archives, this highly collectable series reflects the dramatic nature of the original service. It is in excellent condition with no chips, no scratches nor rubbing to the gilding and comes from a smoke-free home. The approximate sizes are Cup: 60x60mm, Saucer:125x20mm. I am happy to discount Postage & Insurance charges for multiple purchases. |
